Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Pedestrian accidents across Texas claim the lives of more than 600 people each year. These victims account for more than 16% of total people killed in collisions across our state. As you can imagine, pedestrians are left vulnerable to the impact of vehicles due to the fact that they have neither steel cages nor other forms of protection to safeguard them from harm. Although there are numerous laws in place to protect pedestrians, we continue to see them harmed at an alarming rate.
Statistics show that more than 80% of collisions are caused by the negligent or reckless actions of others. Texting, driving impaired, and engaging in reckless behaviors while operating vehicles can leave others sharing the roads and walking on sidewalks at risk.
