Houston, TX (August 16, 2021) - A sheriff’s deputy in Houston is recovering in the hospital after he was struck head-on while in his police cruiser in Harris County. The incident was reported to authorities in the area at around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, August 12.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the 500 block of Aldine Mail Road. Police say that the deputy was headed east in the right lane when the driver who was headed west drove into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with the deputy’s vehicle.
Both the deputy and the suspect were injured in the wreck. They were both transported from the scene to an area hospital for treatment as needed. Neither has been identified at this time.
Video footage from the scene shows the deputy’s patrol car with major damage to the front end. Authorities in Houston continue to investigate the details of the incident.
