Houston, TX (August 19, 2021) - Officers from the Houston Police Department have opened an investigation into a serious collision between a pedestrian and a motorcyclist that closed down the earthbound lanes of the North Loop on Interstate 610 on Thursday, August 19th.
A spokesperson for the department said the accident took place at about 3:00 a.m. in the area of North Main Street and Interstate 45 in Harris County when a motorcycle rider struck an adult female pedestrian who was walking in the main lanes of the roadway.
The interstate remained closed until about 5:00 a.m. to allow for investigation and road clean-up.
Both rider and pedestrian sustained critical injuries and were transported by paramedics for emergency medical treatment.
Investigators have not yet determined why the woman was walking on the freeway.
