Oak Ridge, TX (August 05, 2021) - A collision between a car and a truck on Interstate 45 in Montgomery County on the morning of Sunday, August 1st left an occupant of each vehicle dead.
An initial investigation found that, at about 1:40 a.m., less than a mile south of Oak Ridge, a 2006 Acura TSX was driving southbound in the northbound lane when it struck a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 head-on.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Acura’s driver, 26-year-old Kourtney Yakiyah Hawkins, a resident of Houston, and a passenger from the Dodge Ram, 22-year-old Nely Martinez, were both pronounced dead by the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace.
A report shows that the driver of the Dodge, a 21-year-old from Huntsville, was transported by paramedics to Hospital Corporation of America’s Houston Healthcare Conroe in serious condition.
Two of the other surviving passengers, who were listed as 22 and 21 years old, were also transported via ambulance to local hospitals in serious condition.
This is an ongoing investigation, and there no additional information was available for release at this time.
