Houston, TX (March 14, 2021) - Part of Beltway 8 was blocked for several hours on Sunday, March 14 due to a fatal two-car collision. According to reports, the accident took place near the Fort Bend Toll Road between Rockwell Boulevard and Hillcroft Avenue at around 10:00 a.m.
After the crash occurred, one vehicle came to rest straddling the center barriers located in between the east and westbound tollway lanes. Another car was flipped over in the middle of the road when responders arrived.
At least one person lost their life in the collision, though no one involved has been publicly identified at this time. Paramedics rendered emergency medical aid to involved parties at the scene before transporting those who were hurt to nearby hospitals for care as needed.
Traffic was backed up in the area for several hours after the crash occurred. Drivers were asked to use alternate travel routes for the time being. Police are currently investigating the details of the incident.
