Klein, TX (March 15, 2021) - Officials with the Harris County Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision that took the lives of a 28-year-old mother and her two children as well as one other child. The crash was reported to have occurred on Sunday, March 14.
Sources indicate that an intoxicated driver, identified as Daniel Canada, 35, is to blame for the severe seven-car collision. The wreck occurred at the intersection of FM 2920 and Gosling Road when Canada’s vehicle struck the mother’s vehicle at a high rate of speed.
It was reported that one of the children was on life support at a Houston hospital and succumbed to her injuries on the afternoon of Monday, March 15. The identities of the family members who lost their lives have not been released at this time.
One other person in another vehicle involved in the accident was taken to a local medical center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials. All other involved parties sustained minor injuries and were treated at the site of the wreck.
Canada’s blood alcohol content at the time of the incident was .15. His charges currently include one count of intoxicated assault with serious bodily injury and three counts of intoxicated manslaughter with the possibility of the charges being upgraded.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
