Harlingen, TX (May 16, 2021) - Police in Harlingen said a late-night traffic collision between a pickup truck and a sedan claimed the life of a child and one other person. According to reports, the wreck occurred around midnight on Sunday, May 16.
Sources indicate that the accident happened at the intersection of East Harrison Avenue and 6th Street. A white 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was headed west on Harrison Avenue collided with a white 2011 Buick Regal passenger vehicle. The Regal was headed south on 6th Street at the time.
The driver of the Regal lost his life at the crash scene. Two passengers present in his vehicle at the time, identified as a 10-year-old boy and a female, were taken from the scene by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
Medical professionals pronounced the boy deceased at the hospital a short time later. The driver of the pickup was also transported to an area medical center with injuries of an unknown magnitude.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
