El Paso, TX (September 10, 2021) - A car crash in East El Paso ended in a fatality late Monday, September 6. The incident was reported to authorities in the area at around 11:00 p.m.
Alcohol and excessive speed are believed to be factors that contributed to the accident that resulted in the death of 69-year-old Francisco Garcia. The wreck took place when an unidentified 42-year-old male was driving his 2006 Cadillac DTS and swerved into the right lane, according to El Paso Police Department officials. Information from reports shows that the accident occurred on Loop 375 near Iron Medics Drive.
The driver of the Cadillac then struck the rear-end of Garcia’s 2004 Mustang. The force of the impact forced the Mustang over an embankment where it rolled over and threw Garcia from the vehicle.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The 42-year-old Mustang driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Authorities stated that witnesses observed the Mustang traveling at high speeds just before the collision.
Police in El Paso continue to investigate the details of the fatal crash. No further information has been reported at this time.
