Houston, TX (September 17, 2021) - A mother and son suffered life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Friday morning, September 17, in the Humble area.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that, around 7:30 a.m., the woman and her four children, ages 2 to 8 years old, were traveling eastbound on FM 1960 near Woodland Hills. At that time, another driver in a small, silver SUV cut the woman off.
The woman attempted to avoid the accident but overcorrected, causing her vehicle to roll over and land on the other side of the guardrail.
Paramedics took the woman and her 8-year-old son to an area medical center in critical condition. The sheriff said the three other children were also transported to the hospital but are in stable condition.
Authorities are now searching for the hit-and-run driver. Officers are hoping other motorists may have dashcam video that caught the crash and can help them identify the person who caused it. They are asking nearby businesses for surveillance footage as well.
The HCSO is continuing its investigation at this time.
